Jen Psaki To Be Deposed, Judge Rules
In the first year of President Joe Biden’s presidency, his team frequently denounced the so-called COVID-19 falsehoods that circulated on social media. The POTUS urged Big Tech to take action against it. The state attorneys general of Missouri and Louisiana filed lawsuits against the government in May 2022 for conspiring with the businesses to stifle free expression. Jen Psaki, the former press secretary for the White House, and others will now have to take depositions in the matter.
Judge Terry Doughty of the Western District of Louisiana rejected Psaki’s request for a subpoena requiring her to take a deposition suppressed on November 21. According to Newsmax, the conservative judge rejected her argument that taking the witness stand would be too difficult for her. She also informed the court that she lacked any relevant information.
Doughty did not accept Psaki’s defenses. He claimed that determining whether the administration breached the right to free expression guaranteed by the constitution is in the public interest.
